This is a portrait of Antoni and Sylvia, a commisioned portrait I have just completed working on this afternoon. The colors are complex with many layers of paint underneath. I softened Antoni hair to allow the whispiness to show through. His teeth needed a bit more of a “baby gap” in between and his eyebrows needed to be lowered a bit. Sylvia’s puppy like nature, although she is a senior dog, shows through as she appears ready to play at a moments notice. I have allowed a bit of time in between sittings to reveal the nuances of the pair to reveal themselves. Each time I look at it, I see something new. That is really the mark of an interesting work of art!
This is the preview of a portrait of Antoni and Sylvia in the developing phase. I have incorperated a multitude of undertones. The layers of overlapping colors are creating quite a beautiful and interesting frame to a lush palette on the two adorable subjects. This is a really exciting painting for me to work on, it is developing into a life of its own. I am very happy with it so far.
